Positive experience: I had such a great time with Hola con Lola! The cooking lesson was not only fun and interactive, but also a wonderful way to meet interesting people from all over. The whole experience was relaxed and welcoming, and I really enjoyed the team spirit as we worked together to create delicious dishes. Lola made everyone feel comfortable, and her passion for cooking and culture really shone through. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a unique and social experience in Melbourne!

Fantastic experience: ~ Paella, Passion, and Perfect Saffron Vibes ~ Loved every second of this cooking class with Lola! Before this, I had never made Sangria, Paella, or Churros — and now, I feel like I could throw a Spanish dinner party without even glancing at a recipe. Lola’s style is the perfect combo of informative and super fun. She made us feel like more than just students — we were part of the experience, from chopping to stirring to make paella, making churros and Sangria. Lola was warm, welcoming, and totally in her element. I’m definitely signing up for her other courses. If you’re thinking about it — just do it. You’ll leave full and happy! Plus there is a tour of the Il Mercato Centrale, where Lola shows you all the stalls and you get to sample food.

Negative experience: Very disappointing. Couldn't hear anything she was saying; very disorganised. The taste sampling was a joke with not enough samples for everyone to have and was definitely not a cooking class. 3 hours over-ran by 45mins and even then we didn't get the Spanish omelette. Savouring grace, we had some nice people to chat to

Fantastic experience: We were gifted a cooking class for our wedding, and we took the Mexican food class, which was delicious! Lola is a joy to be around, and we originally met a few years ago when we had her cook paella for my 50th birthday. I have watched her business flourish and it is all due to her love, passion, and joy for food. Our class was at The Mercato Centrale for the first time, which was a great venue I had been wanting to visit. She took our class on a tour where we tasted delicious samples from the gourmet merchants. The class was free flowing with no time constraints, the ingredients were fresh, the drinks were plentiful! Lola shared her story and encouraged us all to share ours which made it a more intimate experience. Lola's boundless energy is infectious! We truly enjoyed our experience and can't wait to take another one of her classes!

Negative experience: Scam. Order Confirmation #114. I paid $280 upfront on the 2/12 for the cooking class and market tour as a Christmas gift for my partner. I received an order confirmation email. There was no date to attend a class, or link to book in. Since then no communication whatsoever. This person has not responded to three emails, two missed calls, and a voice message all left across various dates the month of December. Made for a very stressful Christmas personally and financially. I have requested a refund, before bringing my case to Australian Consumers Commission. I see other reviews here from people who have also been in the same position and lost their money. I would urge anyone to avoid this person.

Negative experience: Do not book with this company. Canceled on us 2 days before booking and then still sent a reminder for the class a day later. Was told they would get in touch “the next day to reschedule” twice after following up those promises that had not been fulfilled. After my last attempt at rescheduling my cancelled class I had been ghosted completely.

Negative experience: Wow - this was an experience. We were given our vouchers which had been confirmed twice via email. The address on the voucher was incorrect and we were told on the Friday via text which hadn't been used in the process that the class had been cancelled (not enough people as some drop outs) so we were auto re-scheduled for the following Sunday. When I told them we couldn't make the following week we were told there were no refunds. When I made the point of letting them know that we had shown up at 37a Crockford St, Port Melbourne as this was the address given to us on our voucher they said thier "new address" was on thier website. Had we thought we had to find a different address we may have tried searching but we had our vouchers so as most people do, we went on the details given to us 3 times during the booking process. I recieved a text on the Friday saying they had cancellations and the class was cancelled and re-scheduled for the following Sunday. I finally managed to contact them on the same number I was trying to call them on Sunday and they didn't pick up! we were told there were no refunds given. Disgusting service, communication and no doubt reflecting the quality of the class I have now paid $280 for which I will not have refunded. I am taking appropriate action. A point to note is that when we got to 37a Crockford st (it is now called the Fruiters wife) the staff said they had so many people showing up for the class and they had asked Hola to change their details. Even if you look them up now a Port Melbourne location comes up. Don't go and don't waste your money and/or time.

Fantastic experience: Lola was so entertaining! We had a lot of fun. She has so much personality which elevates this class. Location was perfect, Peruvian food was tasty and saucy, sangria and pisco sours flowing - cannot recommend this enough

Positive experience: I enjoyed the afternoon however was disappointed we didn’t made the variety of salsas and quesadilla that was advertised on scoop on. we made sangria, margaritas, guacamole and elotes(grilled corn). tacos were prepped for us. Not a cooking class for foodies, more of a fun drinking activity. I don’t drink and had I realised it was so booze-centric I would have booked something else. Lola is very bubbly and personable and was accommodating of folks dietaries wherever possible.

Negative experience: SCAM!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! She canceled my class last minute and didn’t contact me about a refund or to reschedule. I’m still waiting for my money back, but after reading her other reviews I’m concerned that I’m not gonna get my money back.

Fantastic experience: Well this was a fun way to spend a day! Lola is a bundle of energy, surprises, fun and entertainment and the icing on the cake is the delicious food! If you want an interactive cooking experience that is more about enjoyment than refinement, then this is for you!

Negative experience: Took $165 from me for two to attend a cooking class. Cancelled the class at the last minute, then never arranged a rescheduled time, and refused to refund the money. Straight up theft. Be wary.

Fantastic experience: I had one of the best experiences ever at Lola’s Paella cooking class. She is not only incredibly hilarious and entertaining, but also so good at bringing the vibes and making groups of strangers laugh, smile, connect, and enjoy a day together. It was such an amazing hands on experience and the food turned out sooo delicious. I could not recommend this more, she is truly the cooking queen.

Fantastic experience: I’ve attended a number of Lola’s cooking classes and have always had such an amazing time whilst learning how to cook delicious food. Lola is a fun, knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher who ensures that everyone is having a fun time while they’re learning. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I took my mum for Mother's Day and we had so much FUN! Lola is so amazing, fun and entertaining - not to mention an incredible chef. The food was so delicious! Will definitely go back for another class.

Fantastic experience: Well, what a hoot! Mexican fiesta was so much fun! What a lovely group of people. I know one person there was high functioning autistic, and they were pushed outside their comfort zone, but in a good way, as Lola and the group were kind, inclusive and lovely. It was fun, and collecting the produce from the adjoining veggie shop was another layer of fun and connecting. What a fab produce store! Lola is so fun, funny, and obviously loves her work/socialisation. Assistant (soz, forgot name) was lovely. One tip for future for hola con Lola is to tape down electrical cords with high vis tape. No one tripped, but prevention is better than cure. Soz I didn't farewell other guests, as they were lovely. My new kitten, ironically named L.O.L.A, was dropped off at the venue post event, and I wanted to get her home ASAP.

Negative experience: PLEASE READ: DO NOT book here. Lola is unresponsive, she cancels last minute and is completely unreachable via phone and email. We had the safety of booking through Scoopon (which ensured as a refund) however I and others have advised them to get her removed as a service from there. She is highly unprofessional and I do not trust her in the slightest. Avoid avoid avoid!!

Negative experience: This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with a business. My class was cancelled 2 days before we were supposed to attend with no explanation and no offer of a refund or to change the date. We called countless times in the two days leading up to the class to try to find out what had happened and it kept going to voicemail. We emailed Lola and even texted her on her instagram page to try to get in contact and received no response. During this time however we saw that she was posting on this instagram page, so she was clearly just ignoring us. On the day of the class my partner left a review on Google saying she had effectively stolen our money ($320). She then received a call from Lola immediately, calling her a stalker and a liar for messaging her through the business’ instagram account. She also told my partner she was going to find out where she worked to get back at her. We went to the police after this to ask what we can do and they recommended we go to VCAT if we want the money back and we can report the business to the ACCC for investigation which we will most certainly be doing. Please if you are thinking about booking a cooking class do not go through this business. This class was a birthday present for my partner and was supposed to make her day. Instead my partner was abused and our money stolen. I can’t understand how this is still a functional business, it should be shut down immediately.

Fantastic experience: I purchased the paella cooking class with lola as a gift for my dad. And we both absolutely loved it. Lola makes the day. She is full of life, laughs and brings everyone together for an all around awesome day. New skills, new experiences, new lifelong memories and new friends. We have already and will continue to recommend her classes to others, and plan to attend her other classes in the future. If you want a fun day out, book a class with lola! Muchas gracias lola. Negative experience: Update: 3/5/24: Still haven’t heard back from her re: refund. (It’s been 7 days at this point) But she did call me via instagram 2 mins after I wrote my review below saying things like “what if I found out where you worked and did the same?” and harrassing us. Went to the police the next day and currently in the process of VCAT to finally get our money back. Below review from 27 April 2024: SCAM! She will steal your money, do not trust this business!!!! Be careful. We had a cooking class TODAY and she cancelled it without any explanation 2 days ago. I thought it was a mistake, I called, emailed, messaged through your website and instagram (great to see her partying IG stories from minutes ago when she should be managing her business & responding to customers and I don’t know, attending the class she commited to give???) Went to check her other Google reviews and realised that this is not the first time she does this to people. Well, thanks to Lola I got no plans for today, I got a free afternoon which I’m going to use to go to the police & start a report on ACCC (I read another review, it would be the second time she’s been reported to ACCC) And if she dares to respond to this text saying “oooh you rescheduled first” it’s a lie. I’ve seen that she does that in other comments.

Fantastic experience: Organised a cooking class for a group for my 32nd birthday and Lola did not disappoint. She accommodated us like family and truly made the whole thing a great experience from start to finish. Went above and beyond and kept us entertained the whole time!

Negative experience: Really horrible experience, Lola cancelled the class at the last minute. At the same time as I was watching her instagram she was heading off on holidays. I doubt she ever intended to teach the class. Owes me $280 hasn't responded to any of my messages through various forms of communication requesting a refund. I doubt I'll ever get my money back.

Negative experience: Do not recommend, this lady doesn’t deserve 1 star either. I am honestly shocked at how someone can behave the way she does and I’m not sure how she is still running her business. She cancels classes on short notice, she reschedules for ridiculous reasons and expects everyone to work around her, If she ever cancels your classes or reschedules and you are unable to re book or just unable to make the next date even though it’s been her mistake she will not refund you. We had to follow up on our refund that she agreed to give us probably just to shut us up but she was ignoring our calls, our texts for so long. We ended up getting the ACCC involved and reading previous comments many others have done this before too. Book at own risk. Zero empathy. And just takes peoples money.

Negative experience: Our recent experience with Lola's cooking class was extremely disappointing. Just two days before the scheduled session, she canceled - apparently her flights got cancelled.This abrupt change left us in a lurch, and to make matters worse, we received no further communication from her. When we informed her that we couldn't attend any rescheduled classes due to our imminent departure from Australia, she refused a refund. This lack of empathy and unwillingness to accommodate our situation left us extremely dissatisfied. Potential customers should be cautious of last-minute cancellations and poor customer service when considering Lola's cooking classes. Our hopes for a positive experience were shattered, and we strongly advise against engaging in her services.

Fantastic experience: I had such fun at Lola's class. I have done heaps of cooking classes before and they can be boring. This is fun, fun, fun. Great experience, I want to come back.

Negative experience: I was so looking forward to participating in one of these cooking classes with my husband after we received a voucher for our wedding. I tried multiple times to contact Lola to understand how to go about booking as I found the website wasn't quite matching up with the voucher we had received. After a couple of emails, I attempted calling however was then told to text the number. I can see the messages have been read but have received no response. The voucher has now well and truly expired, so we are disappointed we cannot attend this class.

Fantastic experience: We did the Paella class and oh my god it was the most fun day. Lola was such a laugh and created such a fun environment, lots of sangria and left the class feeling like we had made 20 new best friends.

Negative experience: ZERO is my review. She has failed consumer law and her own words - taken money and run off basically. Never tried to negotiate. We've lost money and have been offered nothing. Stay away, This has been happening a lot i am finding out and is still current just weeks ago has ripped people off. To be honest going to ACC and potentially the police. If you have had issues - please look at making complaints! Edit 28/7/23 YOUR RESPONSE IS COMPLETELY FALSE! We have the email history to prove it - so not true I'd never do business and would not trust. We never booked and attempted many emails to re-arrange due to a medical condition of mine. Completely false details below - happy to cut and paste the emails here if required. You did not repurchase anything.

Fantastic experience: 5/5 Wow! This class was absolutely amazing! Lola had such a great vibe and made everyone very comfortable with each other. We had to reschedule twice but honestly it blew our expectations. It’s next to the grocery store The Fruiterer’s Wife. You get to select some groceries to make the Sangria, Paella and Churros. Our friends said they’ve never experienced a class so fun and entertaining. There were some light snacks provided which was very extra I did read the reviews before coming and it looks like Lola has taken action in fixing a lot of the suggestions to make the class better. Highly recommend to book with friends!

Positive experience: Was a bit worried going into the class given the many negative reviews, but the class proceeded as there were about 24 of us (despite the website advertising that there are 14 spots in a class). I personally don't think it is worth the $140 for a 3 hour class (I had a voucher), but nevertheless still had fun. Positives - paella was delicious, generous on the seafood that was used too - good location next to a grocer Negatives - not exactly much cooking learned, as people got delegated tasks eg to chop one onion, or a capsicum. I understand it's probably a lot faster that way, but you don't really understand the whole process in detail (eg at individual stations in a normal cooking class). Same with the actual cooking, it will be a few select people who will do it. Similarly with 'sourcing' produce, because there was a large group, everyone was selected to find eg two lemons, to apples. Suggest that all the produce is bought beforehand so that everyone is ready to start cooking. - a bit unorganised with the timing, we ran overtime and the dessert for churros was rushed through. We were also given piping bags with nozzles to pipe through the churro filling, but there was no coupler to hold the nozzle. Consequently, it was difficult to pipe out the churros as the nozzle would come out. The terms of the lessons also seem relatively unfair - you can cancel 72hrs before the class, but they reserve the right to cancel the class at any time due to the weather or insufficient numbers. I suspect a lot of the negative reviews are due to this where participants' classes have been cancelled very last minute. Overall, still had a fun class - Lola is very friendly and funny, and the paella was delicious (+ you get the recipes). However, there are some points for improvement (potentially better communication re cancellations/rescheduling).

Negative experience: Booked in for class and cancelled without warning. Showed up noboy there. Rescheduled and again nobody was there. Don't waste your time!

Negative experience: Total scam! Do not trust this woman. She asked to reschedule our booking due to the heat. I responded asking how we did this. Three messages and and email later and still no response. She is nothing but a thief!!!

Fantastic experience: This class was rescheduled from February. I took my 3 kids and we had an amazing time. One of my kids is autistic and I didn’t think to tell Lola but she made everyone so comfortable. Lola is very engaging. The entire experience was such good value. Lots of laughs and great food!

Negative experience: We were looking forward to our paella cooking class but when we turned up today the premises are empty and the business does not seem to be running any more so please do not prebook and pay for any classes as you may not see your money again

Negative experience: Beware, this business now seems closed, with an empty premises. Website still open taking bookings. We were booked back in October 2022 but the class was cancelled at the last minute. Today we were booked in again, only to turn up and find it gone! I recommend not booking in the website. Would give it 0 stars if I could.

Fantastic experience: The class was so much fun and Lola brings such vibrancy and passion to the kitchen. Now we know to make sangria/tapas, and cut lemons! Just go with the flow, embrace your time together and you'll leave with endless laughs, would highly recommend.

Negative experience: Our class started off by being left to wait out in the rain. Eventually we were allowed inside, this was when Lola outlined what she had planned for us, essentially a big booze session with cocktails and wine and not much emphasis on cooking. She was terribly unorganised losing us in the market, when we found her she had now bought beer for us so we decided this wasn’t the kind of class we had paid for and left. I asked for a refund but Lola is not responding. From reading online reviews, she seems to have done this to many other customers.

Negative experience: Travelled from interstate to attend a class for Fathers Day weekend, which was cancelled by Lola the day before due to ‘flooding’. No phone call, just an email I found in my junk mail an hour before it was meant to start. I tried emailing, calling and texting. Lola wouldn’t answer my calls (constantly rejects them with a ‘Call you later’ text but never does). Finally got an email reply and was told “we don’t do refunds, it’s on my website” (A, there’s nothing on the website. B, they cancelled the class at short notice, not me). Really unprofessional, and judging by other reviews this happens often. Would not recommend.

Negative experience: I had a cooking class booked got there and not a person to be seen! Waited for 30 minutes nothing! 45 minute drive each way! Called left a voicemail and sent an email both points of contacted not responded to! Terrible service! Luckily it was via a voucher through Groupon so it could be refunded!

Negative experience: Booked in the date which had to be cancelled due to a 'kitchen fire'. Lola then ghosted us for 4 weeks when we tried to reschedule as we had already paid the deposit (terrible mistake). This isn't how you should treat your clients.

Fantastic experience: I've been to two classes so far and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at both. Lola is such a charming and fun host/instructor and made sure we were all engaged with something to do in cooking and preparing all our meals and drinks. The vibe in her classes is very casual, relaxed and welcoming no matter what your cooking skill level is, and you'll have a great time getting along with her and others in your classes. Class sizes are decently sized and just about perfect. And I strongly believe that as long as you have an open mind and are willing to engage, you'll walk away having learnt something. I'm definitely not a good cook by any account and I only occasionally cook at home, but even I left being able to do my own take of Catalan bread with Spanish prosciutto as well as the famous paella. I have Lola and her classes to thank for this.

Negative experience: Super disappointing experience. I bought a Spanish Tapas cooking class from Lola. Got to the class 10 mins before it started and the doors were still shut. Waited for 2 hours only for Lola to message saying that the class had been cancelled due to Covid, which was not a problem. However, I tried to call and message her after only for her to not respond to any forms of communication. So frustrating as I was looking forward to spending some time with my mum and doing something special with her.

Fantastic experience: My partner & I went to the paella & sangria cooking class yesterday morning and had the most wonderful time. Lola's character is larger than life and she made a group of strangers very quickly feel comfortable with each other & had us all talking and laughing. The trip to the markets to see where she gets her food was really interesting & I learnt a lot (who knew there are male & female capsicums??). The cooking experience was much more immersive than other classes I've been to; we all got to join in & have a go at doing something. The sangria & paella was incredible & I can't wait to have a go at making it myself. Will definitely be looking at going to some of her other classes :)

Fantastic experience: Can not recommend highly enough. Did the Paella course and we had an absolute ball with Lola and the class. Not only was the food amazing but Lola made sure everyone got to know each other and had a great time. Will be coming back to do all the other classes and can’t wait!

Fantastic experience: I had the absolute best hens party hosted by Lola! She even bought us celebratory Prosecco and we learnt how to make yummy sangria, paella and tapas. Lola is so much fun and truly made my day unforgettable. All of my friends still reminisce on the day and how amazing Lola was. Thank you Lola!

Fantastic experience: My gosh! I could not give praise any higher - Lola provides the most stunning introduction to who she is, why she loves what she does and the passion she has taking everyone into the market to all the cute stores is divine! She does not just explain but she teaches technique. It was the most incredible and inclusive cooking class I have ever been to. The food was sensational and it was amazing knowing where everything is sourced! Like the food, her class is 5 Star quality ! It couldn’t have been a more enjoyable experience. Highly recommend! I learnt a new word in Spanish too, SU-CA-RRRRRRAT. I will be booking again!

Fantastic experience: Lola offers the best experience - a personality to keep the whole group entertained and laughing, whilst also an impressive array of culinary skills to share and ensure everyone walks away with some great tips for the next feast. We were dressed really nicely as we had a hens - although she gave us aprons - she even offered to do the messy parts of the cooking to avoid us going to the cocktail bar. Really loved it. Negative experience: Highly do not recommend paying for experiences with Lola, unrealistic cancellation policies. Extreme communication barrier. Be mindful before you put your payments down.

Negative experience: DURING A PANDEMIC, LOLA MIGLIORE YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY TO CATER TO EVERYONE. My partner and I booked this experience for our anniversary, we didn’t get to celebrate during the last two months so being out of lockdown we were so eager to book and spend our Sunday trying something new and what seemed fun. My partner got called to a work emergency, due to flooding the night before. I tried to call call 3 times to advise someone of the situation as we wouldn’t make it in time. No answer just was directed to send an email. I emailed Lola the cooking instructor that takes the paella and sangria cooking classes. Mentioning the situation, Apologising and requesting to book for another week i did not want a refund, as we were sooo eager to participate in this exciting experience. She replied “I’m sorry”. She didn’t answer Any of my questions or acknowledge what I had to say. In a time where things can be so uncertain and a lot of people from Melbourne are mealy traumatised from being in lockdown.. we take a step towards hope and this is what happens. BOOK WITH CAUTION! IF YOU HAVE A WORK EMERGENCY, A CHILD THAT IS SICK, OR TESTED POSITIVE AND HAVE TO ISOLATE 48 HOURS BEFORE THIS EXPERIENCE, LOLA WILL DENY YOU A REBOOKING AND WILL KEEP YOUR MONEY WITH NO EXPLANATIONS. Fantastic experience: Our company had a class with Lola - and suffice to say, it was the most fun, entertaining, engaging and meaningful team building exercises we’ve ever undertaken! The entire team learnt, laughed and loved the experience. We highly recommend her cooking classes (the food was supremely delicious), but moreover, we can’t say enough about how she imparts the joy of Spain and the love of travel, in all that she does. Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Lola’s class enough. I just celebrated my bday and we had an amazing time. The food was fresh from the market, the sangria was very tasty and the class was very easy to follow... Lola and Santi were super friendly and easy going... We had a blast! Can’t wait to try Lola’s Peruvian classes and the pisco sour!
