Fantastic experience: Can highly recommend Farolito. My partner and I had Jan as our teacher for two semesters, he's a very effective and caring teacher and super friendly. We loved the course structure which balanced learning new concepts with practical interactive aspects (sometimes other places can force the conversational part, it feels very organic with Farolito). Personally, we had a few life events that got in the way of our attendance and Jan went above and beyond to accomodate us which was really appreciated. If you're looking to learn spanish in Melbourne try Farolito, you won't regret it!

Fantastic experience: The school I have been looking for! Small-sized classes with a focus on real communication help me stay engaged and encourage thinking in Spanish. Conversations during the class often touch on the culture, history and current affairs of Spanish-speaking countries, which gives a rich context in learning. It has been encouraging to feel that my Spanish is actually improving. Highly recommended though I am a little worried that if the school becomes too famous it would be too hard to get a spot!

Negative experience: My experience at this school, demonstrated that they have no consideration for the students and they do not care about the learning experience of students at all. Lines of students crammed into a sardine can sized room, very dilapidated equipment and antiquated teaching style. The temporary, stand in teacher for the initial three weeks, declared he was not usually a teacher of Spanish and included exactly 5-10 minutes of interactive speaking tasks in the hour long lesson. His questions for practice were highly personal and questionable. I gained no benefit in the first 3 weeks that could not have been gained from Youtube and the expensive text book we had to purchase was not opened once and only available from the school. Enrolment staff very unhelpful and unsupportive. This business has a good business model but not much of a mission statement. As a teacher myself with of 19 years I say with conviction, the teaching was very poor. The reply to this is inappropriate and contains false and misleading information- as I said its all about the business of getting bums on seats and no care after that Definitely look elsewhere for your lessons. They said I could have a place if a place was available and when I asked they said sorry no place is available the class is full. They have up scaled the lack of ethics by actually lying. Im sure there others who have not taken the time to share their experiences of poor quality and lack of care for their students.

Fantastic experience: I just finished Jan’s beginners Spanish class and absolutely loved it. He’s such a patient, encouraging teacher who makes learning fun and easy to follow. The classes were interactive, supportive, and gave me so much confidence with beginners level Spanish. Highly recommend Jan & the Farolito school if you’re looking to start learning.

Fantastic experience: I have had classes with both Ange and Jan. So far I'm really enjoying the classes and friendly atmosphere from both the students and teachers. There is a diverse range of students that attend which makes it fun as well. Teachers are always open to our extra questions and always bring extra interesting topics/stories or words from spanish or latin american culture that add something a little extra to the class. The games and tasks we do together in class are fun as well!

Fantastic experience: My first effort at learning another language at the age of 66. The Farolito Spanish Language School was recommended by a friend and has turned out to be the perfect choice. A warm and friendly environment supported by wonderful teachers who coach and encourage you every step of your learning journey. The small intimate classes are a joy to attend, I would recommend this school to anyone wishing to learn this fascinating language.

Fantastic experience: I have been with Farolito Spanish school for one term and I recommend this school for anyone trying to learn Spanish. The course is structured clearly and the text book they use is very helpful (across several levels). My groups teacher, Sara, is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable!

Fantastic experience: I had been using Apps to learn Spanish online and I realized my Spanish cannot be improved by just studying online as I have no one to practice with and no interactions. Then, I found Farolito, the classes are fun and easy to follow, great teachers here. Contents in the class are just good to follow, which can keep up my interest in Spanish.

Fantastic experience: I've been learning with Faralito now since January and I would highly recommend this school to anyone wanting to learn Spanish. I personally love the face to face classroom learning and the location is very convenient next to South Yarra station. I have completed an intensive 2 week Beginner 2 course and am now in Beginner 3. I will definitely move to the next course and keep learning with Faralito. I really like the small group class format and the teachers are very supportive and creative with their learning techniques as you move through the units in the Aula textbook. So far I've had lessons with Samuel and Hector. Sam is an outstanding teacher who loves grammar and is very skilled at explaining difficult grammar concepts. Hector is very attentive and has set up a WhatsApp group for the class to help with homework and he is responsive out of hours for assistance which is really very helpful. The real effort of course is required by me! As good as the teachers are they can't do it for me and l also have to find other ways to learn and more time to study but Faralito is a great foundation and motivation for me.

Fantastic experience: I'm very happy with my choice of school. Teachers are super friendly and you always feel welcome. I was a bit scared to start leaning because English is not my first language but it's actually very comfortable and cosy in classes, small groups, teacher has time for everyone. So if you doubt, don't. Studying goes with small steps, not too much homework. Always happy to come to class.

Fantastic experience: The first term in the beginners class with Farolito was excellent. My learning of the language, being present in the classroom, is so much better than online learning. You get to learn alongside other people who are going through the same stuff that you are and can share your experiences immediately. And most importantly, you get an excellent structured approach and weekly homework that makes sure you study between the classes. Our Spanish born teacher brought an awesome amount of energy as well which made the learning engaging and fun. ¡Muy bien! Highly recommended.

There’s a lot of class participation to practice speaking and listening with the teacher and other students, which is what I wanted out of the classes. Jan is a very patient and knowledgeable teacher, he always has tips and tricks on how to pronounce and remember words, they have been super helpful. I don't feel like i'm missing out on anything by doing the online courses which suit me well as I live far from the city! Jan is a great teacher and I would highly recommend trying out Farolito :)

Fantastic experience: Living rural having Farolito continue to provide online Spanish courses has been one of the few good changes that have come from the COVID-19 pandemic, and I'm so grateful to the team. I've had a number of different Spanish teachers over my many years of trying to learn Spanish and Jan is easily up there with the best. Having a background in linguistics his knowledge of languages is amazing but most of all he makes learning Spanish fun. I can't wait to continue my learning Spanish with Farolito.

Fantastic experience: My Tuesday evening face to face Spanish classes are always the highlight of my week! The small class of seven other students is a great environment to learn a new language as I feel comfortable speaking to my classmates one on one and in front of the whole class. Jan is a fantastic teacher who uses his linguistics background to paint a complete picture of the Spanish language from the origins of words to the structure of the sounds.
